:( I'm scanning in the Imperial Valley (CA) with the Pro-96 I just purchased but cannot pick anything up while in scan mode. The only time I can hear anything is on manual. System used hear is the Motorola II smartzone. Am I only allowed to hear one channel at a time? Thanks

Welcome to the forum

I take it you must be scanning the San Diego, County of (RCS - Public Safety) as its the only Smartzone I find in your area.

Is this the freq you have programmed, 865.2500? And is the bank and freq both set to Motorola?

You may need these also:
864.0500
865.0500
865.2500

Thanks! I have those freq. listed but while in scan mode it won't pick the active channel up. The only way I can listen to an active channel is by doing it manually (locking on to one channel). It's scanning 2 banks with about 50 freq total listed (trunk and Conv) but it won't pick up any activity.??

Do you hear the control channel noise on any of them and does line four indicate a good percent decode on the CC?

If so, then make sure the banks and trunked freqs are set to MO. If you don't hear the noise, you're likely out of range for trunking.

Most likely you aren't getting reception on the control channel 865.25. Without that, you can't track the system. You MAY hear transmissions on the voice freqs because of the transmitter locations, but sounds like you need a better antenna if you can't get the control channel.

I'm getting noise on 865.25000 and line 4 reads M36:470F 95%
Note: the Percentage changes from 91% to 99%

Make sure you are programming that control as a Motorola system and listen in OPEN mode unless you've programmed valid TG IDs in.

It really sounds as if you have the frequencies programmed as Motorola (MO) but you don't have the bank programmed that way. Restrict the scan to the bank that has the 865.2500 frequency in it, then press <PRG> <TRNK>. If the screen says something like "Not Trunked" you have found your problem. Press the <MODE> key until it says Motorola then hit <SCAN>. You should be go to go.

Thanks everyone...... I got it going with a program called Win96. I changed the MOT 3600 CC to Splinter. Question: Can I fill up a bank with different Trunk frequency's from different citys? Thanks

Well, yes you can, but if you are talking about the SD RCS system, you can only put in other splinter systems or else it won't work right. Also, when you put more than one system in a bank, you have to consider that all the systems you put in are sharing the same (one - 1) talk group list. That means there is only one 144 TG or one 240 TG, etc. And of course you can't mix system types or frequency bands for that matter. 8)
