Hello all-

I have a Pro-97 and I wish to load the Atlantic County, NJ trunked system into the Scanner. Here is the RR link to the system:

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=3746

So here is my question. Atlantic County has 7 sites, with 17 talkgroups made up of over 100 id's. I think I need to add each of the 7 sites to a different bank on the scanner, but how do I know what talkgroups should be related to each of the 7 sites. I use Win97, so this should be easy, but I am struggling with the correct way to set up this trunked system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Foley

This is a big reason why I'm not a big fan of multi site EDACS and LTR systems. Yes, I believe in order to properly monitor the system, you need to program the 7 sites into 7 individual banks in proper LCN order. My best advice would be to go for a digital scanner like a Uniden 396/996 or a PSR 500/600 (or Pro 106/197) that does not use banks for storing frequencies. This way you save more space for other systems you may want to program.

Thanks Joe.....No problem entering the 7 sites into unique banks, but how do I know which talkgroups to load to each bank? There does not seem to be an easy way to figure this out. If you take a look at the link I provided you may be able to figure it out. I'm pretty sure that I don't understand the correct way to do this!

There are 171 ID's listed for your system and each bank in the PRO-97 holds 150 ID's. If you prune 21 ID's you can program the remaining 150 into each bank. The 150 ID's can be divided into 5 sub-banks so you can organize things. After listening to the system for a while you will be able to determine if some users only use one or two sites and then you can rearrange the ID's. Interop ID's probably show up on all sites. Town specific ID's may be limited to one or two sites.

You could also just run the scanner on this system in open mode and see what TGIDs come out of what sites. This would probably narrow it down a lot. Just listen to one bank a day to make things easier.
