PRO 97 460/8** bands

How it going folks, I am a newbie to the trunked scanning thing. just picked up the PRO 97 and Im trying to program the emergency services here in DC(no computer software). I used the frequencies on this website/have the two base freqs/offset spacing set as provided (at least for the 460 band). I thought I had followed the instructions provided in the manual/website. Now I see the correct system ID come up and talk groups flashing when scanning but only here lots of static. Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi Gene,

If the system you are trying to monitor is this one:

then there are a lot of talkgroups that are digital (D in the "Mode" column).
Unfortunately your Pro-97 is an analog-only scanner, thus why you would be hearing the static.

A Pro97 will not work on most of the public safety agencies inside & around the beltway.

The only county that a 97 would work fine with is PG county, which is still, for the most part, conventional (with a couple of small EDACS systems thrown in for good measure).
