WOO-HOO!! Just what I've been waiting to hear!!

Maybe they're trying to clear them out to make room for a new line of digital scanners...Don't anyone wake me up from this beautiful dream.

Wonder if the 2055 is somehow going to be included in that sale. That would make my day.

Nope... Just those 3.

The 2055 likely won't ever go on sale until the remaining stock of 2051's is depleted (still on final clearance @ $149.97!)

Will the Pro-96 survive the rebanding? If so, I think I will consider adding one to my collection!!!

This is great news. I am ready to throw my PRO-2051 out the window & slide a PRO-2096 right through the front door as soon as it went on sale.

Thanks for the heads up!!

Yes, these are excellent deals...which makes me wonder why? Are you certain they're going to survive rebanding? Where did you confirm this?

Thanks!

Nobody is certain, but RS has said (in numerous threads on this as well as other radio forums) that it should work fine, but if not you should be able to send it back to them for a new CPU.

So what does the PRO-97 do that my BC246 doesn`t do? I must be getting older because I used to just snatch up every new radio but now I have to justify it :)

For one, it has 225-400Mhz MilAir capability, and it also does the GRE Signal Stalker which is similar to Uniden's Close Call. I have had better luck with GRE Signal Stalker then Close Call in the past.

Audio

The PRO-97 has excellent audio.
Actually, all the Radio Shack scanners that will be on sale have great audio.

Another big win for the Pro-97 is it's LTR decoding/sleuthing capability. It'll monitor LTR data bursts and decode LTR channel assignments.

I continue to see the Pro-97 listed as being capable of surviving rebanding, but via both email and phone calls to Radio Shack customer support, I was told in no uncertain terms by the RS reps that the Pro-97 will *not* be supported through rebanding. Don Starr (maker of the Pro-9x line of programming software) has also expressed his doubts.

I wish that there would be a definitive announcement on this from GRE/RS to end all doubts. But I would just add my caution if you are considering buying a Pro-97.

At least you can get through to the Shack. I have sent a ton of emails with no answer and called them several times and no one seems to know any thing when I have called..Guess I will be doing some more research.. I dont want to end up with a scanner that wont work like my pro 95..

Ok all I just recived a letter From Radio Shack and they say that the Pro 97 will Not work after rebanding.. Here is a Copy of the email I got..

Thank you for the e-mail,

Unfortunately, there is not an option to reconfigure the PRO-97 or
PRO-95 to
handle the rebanding. The Pro-96, and Pro-2096 will.

To better assist you with future questions, please respond to this
original email with the REPLY option.

Thank you,
