Hey folks! I'm not exactly a novice at programming scanners (not exactly a pro, either!!) but I'm having a problem and I need some help!

Bought a PRO-97 on clearance today (Couldn't pass up the deal) and am going to use it for monitoring the Hamilton County Edacs system.

I programmed it according to the instructions, and can't get the talk group ID's to come up. It scans, and it's in trunk mode, yet I can't see any talk group ID's.

I reset the scanner, started from scratch, but still the same result. Any suggestions, anyone?

Thanks,
Rick N9GSU

Make sure you check the boxes on the trunked lists. I did have a problem with one system, can't remember which one, that I had imported from rr to the 97 and it would scan the frequencies and not show talkgroup tag or id so I had to re-enter it "manually" on the software. I have a used 97 I got on e-bay couple years ago and now use it for Hamilton county so I know it is capable. Good luck.

Oh, sorry...I'm programming it manually, not with software! Sorry about leaving that out!

Make sure your channels are in LCN order.
One common mistake is starting at 000 in a bank instead of 001
Second common mistake is not setting the bank to EDACS trunking, and make sure it is Open not closed.

But I would double check LCN order first. And I would download the two programming software for that scanner, Win97 and PSRedit 300 and try them both and then buy one. Highly recommended.

OK, I've got the LCN in the correct order. I re-programmed, starting on channel 1, and I'm still getting same thing. I checked to be sure I'm getting a strong signal on the control channel, and I am, when I go to it on manual, it's shows CTL-06, and I went to an outside antenna to be check. I'm also set to "open". Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Rick

What does it say when you hold on the control channel on the bottom line it should say EDACS
I think is a bank trunk issue, that is not set right for trunking.
Try this guide to programming... excellent!

This goes step-by-step, maybe you've missed one, the pro-97 is great scanner, but it's tricky to program sometimes without the software. I know this from experience. ;)

Yes, it says EDACS. OK, I'm going to start from scratch and go through that guide step by step! Thanks!

OK, went through the document, and did it step by step. I'm getting the same result.

When I go to the control channel, it says

CTRL-06 and then shows a % over to the right of that, usually up at 96% or so. :(

Man...this scanner is frustrating me! Ugh!

GOT IT! :) OK....AND...I figured out what I was going wrong. :) For some reason, in the document you referred me to, I was missing step C2. I'm looking in the owners manual, and actually not seeing that step in there.

Regardless, thank all of you so much for helping me with this!

Been there done that, usually something simple.
Now, the other thing thats fun, is find LTR systems and decode them. It's a great scanner for decoding them as well.
