Hi all, the antenna connector on my Pro 97 is loose. It seems to connect to the circuitry inside if I press it down hard. I can hardly scan/trunk anything anymore.

Is there anyway I can open up my Pro 97 and fix this problem?
Thanx,Amol.

If you can solder you can fix it. I bought 2 pro-97 last year on ebay that had the same problem . They both had came loose from the board and took about 10 mins each to fix.

Thanx for the reply country2. What I need to know before I open up my Pro 97 is that its doable, that it can be put back together without having to go to RS. Any tips or anything you can offer me before I open up the Pro 97, please? Thanx, Amol.

Be sure bnc jack nut is tight if applicable and with a drop of glue to prevent future loosening before, soldering contact back to board and bend contact down till it touches board contact also, before applying solder for a stress free joint. also lightly scrape both solder contacts till bright and shiny and apply soldering paste first if, you have any but, not a must. Just be sure to use rosin core solder with silver content if you want just be sure, not to use acid core solder you can also take a q tip with alcohol and clean the joint up when done if you desire I always do since it's easier to see if I have a good joint . You might already be aware of a lot of these steps but, I listed them just in case good luck and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS!

thanx crippled chicken. Yes, I am aware of these points. What I was asking is whether its doable - that I wont mess up the radio by opening it up and then realising it needs a RS tech to put it back together.
Thanx.
