Anybody know how to disable this dreaded feature? It makes monitoring a single channel almost useless, especially on air band where you miss the callsign of an aircraft calling in.

I don't care about saving my stinking batteries! Plus, it stays plugged in to DC most of the time.

You can't actually turn it off, but if you put the radio into program while stopped on one channel the power save wont activate.

well if we are talking about tricking the scanner, then you could just put one channel into a bank and scan it :) .... except there are only 10 banks for 1000 channels :( :(

Thanks jerri!

Hi pog, done any hamming yet?

Yeah, I did that, but I put 2 channels in and there's never any activity on the other. I will try scanning just one channel but I've had other scanners get confused by that. I think the program mode trick might do it, its real easy to just hit the key.

later...

The attachment is a hardware modification that keeps the power saver from putting the PRO-97 to sleep.

EDIT: Further testing shows that it is not enough to just keep the radio from going to sleep. The CPU still controls the MUTE line and the power saver keeps audio muted even if the voltage regulator is forced to stay on. The bottom line is that the modification does not work. Sorry.
