I am trying to upload frequencies from the Radio Reference site (down loaded into ARC 300 software). When I hook up to my laptop running Win 11 using either the newer Radio Shack 20-546 cable or the older 20-047 cable, there is no recognition of the scanner. The ARC 300 software goes through the upload cycle showing completion but nothing actually goes to the scanner. Any thoughts as to what my issue is? As a further note, I was able to clone my PRO-97 from my PRO-197 using the 3-conductor mini cable. So I know the PRO-97 does accept data.

PRO197 and PR097 Aren't the same series.

PRO197 and PRO106 use the same programming software and accept the same files. Plus all the later clone radios from Radio Shack and Whistler.

PRO97 mobile cousin is the PRO2055.

You also need to make sure the adapter is not used on the programming cable, since it is not needed to program an PRO97

Sorry the hand held is a PSR 500 and it did clone from the PRO 197. I am sure that I'm using the PC/IF and the programming cable is used without the adapter on both the old and new cable.

The PRO-97 Wiki says to use mono plugs. If you download and install ARC500 for the free trial period, there is a USB cable driver installer under the Scanner tab which works with the 20-546 cables.

I had mis identified my hand held scanner. The name plate on the back was all worn off and I thought it was a PRO-97 when actually it was a PSR 500 which programs fine on ARC 500 software. Furthermore, my actual PRO-97 will read and write from the ARC 300 software. My problem with that scanner is no display. I saw the disassembly post on RR but I cannot find any site that has the display for sale. If I want to continue with the PRO-97 I'll likely just buy one off Ebay. My main reason would be for VHF from my local airport. My SDS 100 is pretty lousy on VHF but excellent on local simulcast.
