Hello, I'm new to the trunking scanner world. I purchased a used pro 97 on ebay to replace the outdated $99 uniden model I had for 15 years. While I realized now I should have saved a little more money and bought a pro 96 with APCO abilities, I'm happy with the 97 so far. The trouble I'm having is Understanding how to program the trunked systems. I thought I could start the signal stalker and the scanner would find the necessary frequencies of which I could choose the one I wanted to keep. The signal stalker finds nothing. So far I'm able to listen to railroads, aircraft and some local police. I have looked over Win 97, which made things alot easier to see whats programmed. I live in 48429 zip. I just don't get it! HELP!

Signal stalker won't help with trunked systems... Did you read through the Wiki here for introduction to trunking?

A check of the database here, doesn't show much for Trunked systems in Shiawassee Co.
It looks like everything in your area is conventional.

As seamusg mentions, there is not much trunked stuff available for your area ( http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=1304 ) You may want to check out the Consumer Energy System and see if any of the towers for their EDACS system are in your area. ( note: some TG's are digital). You may also want to see if any of the good folks in the "Michigan Forum" can give you some pointers.
Good Luck

Other than Consumers the only other trunk system is MPSCS which is all digital. The only trouble with Consumers is that most of the sites have not been verified.
