Hi,

I would like to tune in to a NFM 216.775 Channel 55 on my Pro-97 and it doesn't seem to support the frequencies. Is this just a limitation of the scanner? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Yes its a limitation of the scanner.. The Pro-97 goes in 5kHz steps in the 216.0025–225.0000 MHz range. This is directly from the manual:

All scanners tune by steps. Your RadioShack scanner
uses steps consistent with the latest US or worldwide
standards. If you enter a non-valid step frequency, any
scanner will tune to the next step. Some scanner designs
do this without showing the correct step in the display.
This scanner will show the actual tuned frequency in the
display. Because steps are so close together, the audio
quality will not be affected by the offset.

Thanks. So how are people tuning into those channels? By simply using a scanner that supports narrowbands?

Im not quite sure.. I have a Pro-97, but I havent personally run into this issue. This may be a question for the local forums.. Maybe someone in your area has had experience with this.

Good luck!

Can't be done if you are referring to TV Channel 55. Television is broadcast in WideFM, not NFM. As stated, it is a limitation of the scanner, and on June 12, 2009, it will be a moot point. One of the main reasons that WFM has been removed from most scanners is Digital TV switch-over.

I don't think its WFM. It's NBFM as far as I know. 216.775 specifically.
