I normally scan "Up" with my 97, but today I tried switching it to scan "Down" instead and noticed some interesting results.

When scanning my local FD which is a MOT type system, scanning "Down" nets a greater chance of not picking up the primary control location and uses one of the other 5 towers, (presumably the one closest to the truck transmitting).

In the programming for my scanner, the primary location is listed as #00.

Any insight as to what is happening? Should I be using the "Down" or "Up" method by default?

Thanks for any help.

If you have multiple control channels programmed, naturallly the first viable control the scanner finds will be the one trunked - so arrange your programming as necessary.
There is no correct direction to scan.

It just dawned on me - I was thinking that scanning "UP" meant the scanner started at the bottom of the list and scanned UPwards, (from 99 to 00). Now that I've realized that the scanner scans numerically up from 00-99 it all makes sense.

My bad.
