Pro-97: Scans, nothing heard, no squelch

Hi, all. Odd problem here. Maybe something's fried inside? After charging batteries the last time, and powering up the Pro-97, I found it seemed to be scanning, but didn't stop on any freq. and nothing was heard. Same with manually programming single channels, as a test. Turning the squelch knob didn't help. A reset didn't do a thing, neither did using the AC adaptor.

Not sure if I want to repair it. In fact, already have ordered an replacement/upgrade: GRE- PSR-500. But, it is a curiosity.

Anyone else experience this problem?

Alan, hope you've not been charging the batteries inside of the radio. Too many bad things happen when doing this. Will it work with the AC adapter in?

Hi, Larry and thanks for reply. No, charging done with a rechargeable battery holder at an AC outlet. In fact, haven't done anything different or weird before this happened.

No, it does not work with the AC adaptor. Very odd - haven't had this with any unit in the past, or heard of it.
