So, I have finally got my scanner set up for the local trunked and standard frequencies and have been messing around with some of the other features. I am trying to get the Signal Stalker to work but nothing comes up. It just scans, and scans, and scans...

Is there a setting or something else I must do to make it work? It seems so simple, but it's not working. I have followed the instructions in the manual on page 66.

Thanks,

Dan

Did you read the part that says it is for detecting STRONG NEARBY SIGNALS?

Signal Stalker is designed to work with signals which are CLOSE or STRONG (or both). One thing you can do is connect an outside antenna to get more signal. But it sounds like what you really want to use is the SEARCH function, not SSII.

For me, the signal stalker on my Pro 97 always manages to pick up Channel 17 picture and sometimes the audio. It seems as though the picture signal is stronger than the audio. It doesn't matter what antenna I use. Signal stalker works good when the transmitting unit or transmitter is nearby.

OK, so that makes sense, but what's the point then? I can receive other signals that I have programmed in fine via the other methods; why wouldn't it pick up those?

Is it really just a marketing feature which sounds good, but isn't really practical?

It works when practical. It quickly finds a frequency when you don't at the moment have a clue what band the RF signal may be. A good example would be a road construction slow/stop sign guy. Use stalker on him if he's keying. Much faster than thumb fumbling on a service search. I always run it when I go somewhere different. I might get new hits to channel in a bank later.
