Pro-97 sounds like helicopter and no display

Pro97 Scanner will not display and has constant sound while on that sounds like a helicopter, but will not change channels or anything. I think it was left on for a while on very low (inaudible volume) while plugged in. Not sure if it burned out screen and did something to it receiving frequencies, but shouldnt have.....
Any idea what might be wrong?

Sounds like a power issue. I would let the batteries charge and try it again.

I agree with NC4DX, it sounds like a power issue. When the batteries are low, or the voltage low, they make that sound until the batteries are so dead the scanner won't power at all.

Sorry, would have deleted after posting, because I solved it.

It was a power issue as was stated. I had it on the charger with rechargeable batteries, took it off and it made the sound. Plugged it back in, and it quit, but wouldnt turn on. Come to find out, my charger had been unplugged....... Plugged it in, and turned scanner on again, and it worked just fine.
