Pro 97 text tag to group id

Just picked up a PRO 97, hardly used, from a garage sale ($5.00!) they probably couldn't program it.
I added text tags to the group ID's on my Trunked system I am monitoring (San Bernardino)
The text tags show up when I enter "Prog/Trunk" and walk through the list. I can see the text tags for each Group ID . But when scanning the Tags do not appear, but still show some older incorrect text.
I programmed Bank 0 for the frequencies. When viewing the Group ID's I programmed in, it says for example:
ID Bank 0-1. ON
Motorola TGID#07
MOT 04624 lo
CHINO BLUE (the text I entered for this Group ID)

But when scanning, it doesn't show either the group ID # or the Text. I think I must be missing some important step.

The text tags do not appear while the unit is in active scan. They should appear when the scanner stops on an active talk group.

Next time the radio stops on a active talk group, press the TEXT button. That should change it to your text tags.

fixed problem with ID text tags

Thanks for the replies.
I figured it out. Took a deep breath, went to the "easy" manual, started completely over, step by step. Found a few things I did wrong the first time, "like blocking the data channel", setting the mode, selecting id group numbers, I programmed two banks instead of putting both frequency sets into the same bank. Works now. Previously it didn't even show the group ID, much less the text tag when it locked on a channel. Now is shows the ID, and when I get another breath, I will add the Text tags. Maybe now I can get some sleep. I know why it was at a garage sale, they probably took one look at the manual, and threw up their hands. The pro 97 works much better then my pro 94. The pro 94's audio was getting very weak. I also have a AOR AR900, but that doesn't trunk scan.
Been monitoring since 1970, started with a Radio Shack tunable portable vhf radio, and use several BearCats over the years. Has anyone used the new RS pro 107 that comes pre-programmed on a SD card? That could save me alot of grief.
