Hello to all! I'm new to this site and admire the wealth of knowledge that it seams everyone has on the subject of scanners and radios. I have a situation where I purchased several scanners from an individual who listed 3 scanners as a bunch for sale. One of them worked, one is now working intermitently and the scanner that I really want to fix is the handheld Pro-97 analog 1000ch scanner from Radio Shack. Since it wouldn't power up, I opened the back and started looking for any obvious red flags that might indicate component failure. I'm not very electronic savy, but I can distinguish between most surface mounted components. The only (very obvious) problem I found, was what appears to be a coil that had been striped completely out with the set screw missing, the internal structure broken and a very small copper wire is broken and visable from the top. I located an article on this website that details a discriminator mod for the scanner and shows a very detailed picture of the component. It is marked as T4 on the board and I've tried to contact Radio Shack and obtain information / replacement of the part which was without success. Does anyone know the value of this part? Is it a detector coil and can one be obtained for replacement? I would really appreciate anyones help and God Bless! Jeff
