pro 97

have an older uniden bearcat bc 200 xlt. would like to upgrade + find a unit that also pics up cb . was checking out radio shack pro 97 for 200 bucks + pro 96 for 500 bucks. cant really see spending 500 ,but would consider the pro 97. as u can see, i,m new to this. also going from anolog to dig is new. could really use some help on this.

if you are looking into GRE/RS radios only this might be better in the Radio Shack forum, but you do not need to get the Pro 97 if you need a digital scanner,b ut if you just need trunking, then the BC246T for the Pro 97 would be great, the Pro 95 also has trunking and is about 50$ less,but the Pro - 97 is the better radio.

but yea, for Digital you whould need to get the Pro 96 or the Uniden Digital scanner (not sure ont he model #)...

if CB was the main reason for buying a new scanner, I would keep what I had and just buy a hand held CB for fourty bucks or so. Neither the 96 nor the 97 do very good on picking up CB.

Both are excellent scanners, however, the PRO-97 does not do Digital. So if you require digital, go for the PRO-96.
