Has anyone had a problem with their Pro106/197 locking up on UHF frequencies in the 853 range with no apparent squelch?? The radios will sometime will go silent. When I look over they are locked up on an 853 mhz frequency with no sound whatsoever. Don't no if it is an open carrier or a scanner problem.

While in the scan mode, if it locks up then disconnect the antenna and see if it resumes scanning? If not, it's likely to be a "birdie".
Mine does this in a different area.

One of my 197's does something similar and it takes a slight movement of the squelch knob either way to resume.
Those radios are also very prone to overload, especially from FM & NOAA WX. That could very well be what you are seeing. I have a FM and WX filter on the splitter that feeds my 3 197's and it made a world of difference.
