Having a hard time programming this - can some one please help me !

I have the software - I want to upload district 1 3 and 17 along with Medic and Fire - I thought I did it - and my scanner is not giving me anything - I will hear something once every 10 minutes - then it says scanning and nothing - not even sure with TGID or CONV means

I hate ARC500 with a passion,I prefer Win500,so much easier for me to program my Pro 106 and have been using it for years(and Win96 before that with my Pro 2096 scanner....)

Took me some time too. Just keep working with it, it well be rewarding! Hang in there and learn your scanner and software. You'll be better for it. Take a break and come back if frustrated.

I think I got it - I guess when I dont hear anything and it says scanning - means nothing is happening

It appears that the city of Philadelphia is using P25 Phase II which cannot be monitored on your Pro 106. Currently the only scanner that can decode Phase II signals is the GRE PSR 800. It also looks like that many talk groups are encrypted which no scanner can decode.

thanks for the reply - I do get my district and 2 other districts I was able to program last night alone with Medics - I guess there are others that I am not picking up with this scanner

Just remember, just because the system is listed as Phase II does not mean Phase II is operational on the system. That system is Phase II capable, according to the DB, which means it is capable of doing Phase II transmissions. According to the DB, there are no Phase II talkgroups on the system, therefore the 106 should be able to pick up all the TG listed, except, of course, for the encrypted ones.

Glad you got it working. In the DB the talkgroups listed with a "E" under mode means they are encrypted. Although you may program those into the scanner, all you will hear is a sound that sounds like R2D2 from Star Wars, and it is very annoying. I found that out real quick when I had encrypted talkgroups programmed in my 106.

Just looking over the system, it looks like you should be able to hear all the main Fire and EMS dispatch channels and the police dispatch channels you are looking for (Dist 1, 3, & 17).

Have you done the firmware update? It is needed to properly receive the Philly system. Within the city limits you should be able to pick up all of the districts, fire and medic north and south.
