I see some older threads about the Pro 164 firmware 1.04 update and people having trouble with it. I downloaded it tonight and when I execute it, I get a dos box flashing on the screen, then nothing. The application does not give any prompts. I tried running it under Vista and XP with similar results.

Does anyone know if the archive is still bad like previous posts say, or is there some trick to getting this to run?

If you read the "other" posts, that informaiton is correct, Change the file end to .ZIP not .exe
and extract, then run it.

Please don't post GRE built Radio Shack scanner questions/topics in the GRE forum. The GRE forum is for GRE Branded radios only. Thanks.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Changing .exe extension to .zip was the fix I needed. I was able to then unzip the archive and run the updater to get to 1.04. Thank you for the advice.
