Thanks N8YX, That makes sense as this is happening on the new Los Angeles Co Fire UHF frequencies that are NBFM for the most part. I think I'll just leave the Sound Squelch off.

That, narrowband (like +- 2.5 kHz deviation versus +- 5 kHz deviation), would call for a narrower IF filter, which the PRO-2006 doesn't have (for FM mode anyway.)

Love the Pro-2006 line. I have mine in mint condition, with the speed mod, carrier-on indicator light, signal strength meter, +/- 5 KHz center tune mods as well.
Backlight was purchased from a vendor on eBay.

I’m sure I’m gonna get asked so here goes. The pro-2004 next to it has the same mods PLUS the extra 100 channel mod. It now has 400 channels. The light dimmer switch is now on/off.
