Hello All, I've been reviewing the Win86 Help File. I believe I have properly setup the Talk Groups I want to hear.

Here's the question....Should I be hearing "other traffic" or users on a control channel if their TG is NOT one that I have programmed to listen to?

I didn't think I would hear any TG's that I didn't put in. However, there is a local ambulance company that uses the Ohio MARCS system to just BS on CONSTANTLY. I don't have their TG entered, but, I'm hearing them anyway.

Also, on the "Expanded" check when programming, can you put a regular AM or FM radio station in? Should it hear, say like, AM 700.00 WLW out of Cincinnati OK or not?

Have I done something wrong?

Thanks, Steve/KB8FAR

Close the bank - you are scanning in open mode.

You cannot hear AM or FM broadcast stations.

You can also simply lock out certain talkgroups that you dont want to hear and stil scan in open mode ot hear talkgroups you may not be aware of.

TG Lockout...

OK. I'm guessing here, but, do I list the group I DON'T want to hear in the "list of 29" and then click the LOCKOUT box? Is that what you mean by locking out a certain TG but still scanning in open mode? Thanks, Steve/KB8FAR

Well youl have to forgive me as I dont have a 96 nor the win96 software but in most of the other software for trunking scanners, there is a check box to lockout a talkgroup you put in.

As you can see in the attached screenshot. You can put your codes in and selectively lock out all the ones you want. While leaving the bank open. This wil effectively lock out all the known talkgroups and any ones you dont have locked out wil come right on through.
