ahoy-ahoy skanners-warm greeting from West Philadelphia-USA!

so im getting all into this hobby,it rocks.what can i say,im hooked!

so,i pulled this write up off the net.its for the D-Tap/RSPro528

-The discriminator is marked SL5018 it is an 18 pin IC on the back board. you will need to use pin #9 which is the audio out.

Solder a 10k resistor to pin#9 on the discriminator, and using sheilded audio cable, solder the red wire to the free leg of the resistor(some small heat shrink tubing will help cover any exposed wire. then solder the white wire to a chassis ground.

You will need a 1/8" mono phono jack to connect the other end of the audio cable to. there is not much room in there so be careful of where you mount the jack.-

OK,so mounting the jack.a breeze,my opinion you could park a 4runner in there.

But,this 18pin IC,,cant find it.theres a 16pin.marked SL5018.
I mailed the author 2weeks ago,im thinking i wont hear back, any time soon anyway.
Any thoughts?

Many thanks mate's,if its already listed here,im sorry,,i did like 2weeks of searches before i posted here.
a link to the info would be very welcomed..thanks!

What you have labelled as pin 9 is actually pin 1 - notice the marker above it?

You've marked the real pin 9 with an 8. Google the datasheet next time: http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/auk/SL5018P.pdf

And as usual, another set of tap instructions that ignore the need for a DC blocking cap. Do youself a favour and put a 10 uF tantalum cap in series with that 10k resistor.

So what are you going to drive with this tap? Are you going to connect it to your PC's mic jack and overload the mic input? Or are you going to connect it to a line in jack and put an excessive load on the SL5018?

BTW, kudos for verifying your info before warming up the iron.
