Was looking at a Pro96 scanner today in the pawn shop and was going to get it , but when you put battery's in it and turn it on it will not work , but if you plug it in with the power supply it will work. we used new battery's and still will not work , but like I was saying a second ago it works when pluged in.
Can someone let me know what they think might be the problem with it ? or should I let it pass. They want $349 for it but I am sure I can get it a lot cheaper than that just a matter of willing and dealing , cause I know I can get it new for about that price , But I haven't check yet to see what they are going for now , but was just interested in it when I looked at it.

better prices out there

Lugoff.....You just missed a good chance at RS to get a new one for about $285 out the door. There are plenty on ebay for $300 or less.....from reliable sellers. I personally would would pass if I could not get it to fire up on battery power.

I agree, right now it's still on sale for $379 (although yesterday you could have had a brand new PRO-106 for $280). I would pass on that deal, even at $300, it's just not worth it and who knows what else is wrong with it.

Well I just might pass but what I thought I would do if I could figure out what the problem is with the battery issue is , was to show the pawn shop prices were you can buy it new for the price they got and see if they will sell it a heck of a lot cheaper maybe a 100 bucks if not then they can keep it but i know no one in there right mind will buy it for that so I guess if they work with me on it I will try to get it cheap but if not I will just wait untill they let the price down to my price range then get it that way but i will keep watch for it like a hawlk

I love the PRO-106, so much better at decoding signals and overall reception compared to the PRO-96.

The memory setup is different on both radios, the PRO-96 uses memory banks of 50 channels each, the PRO-106 has "objects", so you can have 1000 channels on say memory 1, and then only 5 channels on memory 2.

True; but I wish RS would do a better job on audio output. You can't even use a speaker mic on them as the jack is set up for an earphone with a resistor inline with it. Other than that real good.

I think I may just pass the one up at the pawn shop heck what I would pay for that one I would just put a few extra dollars in and go get me a new one I really want the base model has anyone had any experience with the base model version
