On the PRO96COM Affiliation Log screen, there are affiliate, unaffiliate, and forced. Does anyone know what the forced means? Tom

Forced basically means that the system has sent a message to the radio to reaffiliate with the system. If the radio is still in range and listening you should see an affiliation shortly after that in the affiliation log. That command is usually a "Are you here?" type message to the radio if the system hasn't seen any traffic from it in some period of time.

I've also seen that message on occasion when a site is returning to normal after having been in site trunking mode.

Thanks for the reply! I've only seen this for the BLM base unit, it never seems to affiliate or unaffiliate. Thanks again. Tom

I see this all the time on the PPSTN radio system mostly with the Motorola radios that are on this Harris P25 system. If a radio is not used for 3 to 4 hours it will unaffiliate the system and will no longer receive traffic on the system. Right now the system will send a command from time to time to get these radios to affiliate. Motorola will add what it calls a "HeartBeat" data packet April 1st 2011 that will be sent by every radio once an hour so that they will stay affiliated. Only MA/Com radios show up on the affiliation list. Motorola radios never show up on the affiliation list of Pro96com

Any way to get the Moto radios to show up. This will be GREAT for those users who pretty much listen only (higher ranking officials), but may have been missed because they affiliated prior to monitoring of the system.

The Motorola radios show up on the Affiliation Log screen but never on the Affiliation List screen. These radios are affiliated to the system as a whole but not to any single P25 site for some reason. The MA/Com Harris radios show up on both of the Affiliation screens.
