I have been out of this for a few years and trying to get back into it. Is my pro97 now worthless when it comes to the programming after all this rebranding?

PRO-97

The PRO-97 will still work fine on LTR and EDACS systems. It will also work on some rebanded MOT systems of the 800MHz band, but that depends on specific frequencies being used.

When you look at all the conventional channels out there, there is really very little the PRO-97 cannot be used for. A far bigger issue is if you need to monitor someone using P25 digital.

The PRO-97 is a great radio.
Depending on the systems in your local area will depend on how useful it is.
The 2 main systems I monitor are EDACS and LTR so its fine.
800MHz rebanding only effected Motorola 800MHz trunking systems.
The 97 does not support P25, so if you have that in your area, yo would be out of luck.
The 97 will always work for Airband and Marine.
Best of luck
