OK I will work on the image and will inform where to download from for those in need.

Hello,

I was wondering if you were ever able to upload an image file from your SD card? I recently got a Pro-18 and in my haste to use it corrupted the SD card, when I reformatted it directly in my PC (was unable to do so within the iScan program) it is now unusable, so I believe I need an image to clone into it. Can you help? PM me if you do not want to post here. Thanks.

OK, I thought I was onto something here but probably not:

I figured I'd do a "what do I have to lose" move and took the SD card out of the scanner and put it into a USB card reader, then stuck it into my PC. Next, I formatted the card using Windows. Check. Next, I opened iScan and guess what? It recognized the card, but said that it wasn't ready to be used with iScan, so it asked me to "prepare" it, so I selected that option in the toolbar. Success! Next, I copied a configuration to the SD card. SUCCESS! OK, so now I'm really excited. I exit out of iScan, CAREFULLY put the card back into the scanner, and turn it on. I get this display:

Init SD FileSys

and it stays there!

It's been that way for about 10 mins.

I tried shutting the scanner off but it won't respond.

I assume that I'm going to have to just yank the batteries out to "shut it off" then take the card out and reformat it, but does anybody know what

Init SD FileSys

Means????? Is it trying to load my configuration? I only have one system on the card (Nassau County P25).

I don't know if your PM solved your issue, but I always use SDFormatter to format SD cards for my Pro-18s (and a PSR--800 and HP-1 with sdcards) and have never had a problem, and I have 3 Pro-18s and have used numerous different SDcards in them. When purchasing a used Pro-18 I always reformat the card from the previous owner using SDFormater. This free program has been developed specifically for sdcards by the SD Association, is tested, safe, is available here.. I also use the iScan software to then prepare the card for the scanner. NEVER have had an error using this process (but have had problems using "format" in Windows Explorer to format sdcards not only used in my scanners but in other devices that use sdcards including tablets, Goggle TV boxes, and smartphones. Depending on the sdcard and brand, the windows format app doesn't always work consistently or accurately).

I am not sure how I did it but I did format a card for the PRO-18 off one computer. I have both the PSR800 and PRO-18 software installed on the same machine so the PSR800 program install may fix the bad PRO-18 files

Everyone,

Thanks much for your help and advice. I was able to get a hold of the original owner's image and cloned it to my microSD card. SUCCESS!!! I created a crapload of playlists, overwrote them to the card while in the scanner and VOILA - it works! It scans beautifully. I really love this little scanner. No, I didn't pay $79.99 but I got it for a real;y great price and I'm very happy with it. I think I like iScan even more than FreeSCAN!

I just scored the last/possibly only one on overstock.com about ten minutes ago. I saved the link and check it a few times a day. Nothing this morning, then all of a sudden 1 in stock!
So keep checking. I'm pretty thrilled. Hopefully, it's in good shape.

It came in about a week later and has been going to work with me every day since. Despite what others have run into, mine came in perfect physical condition and seems to work the same. It occasionally has a little issue decoding some of the Providence, RI digital when I'm out that way but considering I had no option to listen before, I'm okay with that.
I put in some 2400mah batteries I found on amazon and I get a day and a half of solid listening at my office all though I do listen at a very low volume.
All in all, quite pleased. I don't find the software to be as easy to use as something like bctool but it's good enough for my purposes. Now I have to find a new home for my Pro-107.

That's great news. They really are nice radios, though I agree with you in re the software. I've had mine since they went on sale for $200 last year and I'm still learning things about iScan. But like you, I can hear stuff now.

You must have gotten the best set of batteries in existence! I managed to coax mine up to about 9+ hours with 2500 mAh cells and I thought that was pretty good, considering the unit's track record for eating batteries. But I'm on external power most of the time so it's not really a concern.

I'm wondering how much longer Overstock is going to keep the page up? No word on anyone seeing them back in stock for quite awhile now, I fear that they're gone. Though I didn't manage to snag one of those -- I just wanted a spare to keep in the car -- I'm happy for the folks who managed to get one. It's a great value for the money.
