According to what I found online, overstock items are generally new unless marked otherwise.
My is marked as shipped, although I didn't get a shipped email. So we shall see if its new

Agreed, but there's money to be made on these units... I know if I was in such a position, I would be glad to pass one along to a "less-fortunate" member (I am one of the aforementioned members).

My guess is someone goofed in pricing or inputting the price, and because it was a Sunday they didn't catch it.

I could have ordered more but purposely didn't to share the good fortune with fellow hobbyists. I know how unamerican of me. Lol

The description was also weird - "Receives AM/FM and shortwave bands". No mention of listening to police, fire, or EMS. Makes me wonder if the person listing it didn't really know what they had.

My friend who is a manager at Radio Shack told me that Radio Shack decided that rather than keep marking these units down in the store, they had all the RS stores ship them to a central liquidator who in turn liquidated them for Radio Shack. I'm guessing that's how they ended up on "The Big O".

As for the unlucky ones who missed out on the deal of the year, I'm sure there will be plenty on Ebay soon (at a much higher price than $79.99).
