The description was also weird - "Receives AM/FM and shortwave bands". No mention of listening to police, fire, or EMS. Makes me wonder if the person listing it didn't really know what they had.

Thought that was weird myself, also did tou see the dimensions? Said it was like 5.5inches wide and that cant be right.

My friend who is a manager at Radio Shack told me that Radio Shack decided that rather than keep marking these units down in the store, they had all the RS stores ship them to a central liquidator who in turn liquidated them for Radio Shack. I'm guessing that's how they ended up on "The Big O".

As for the unlucky ones who missed out on the deal of the year, I'm sure there will be plenty on Ebay soon (at a much higher price than $79.99).

Radio Shack left money on the table with this one as many would of paid $150 or so for these if they could be found. I am not sure what is up with Radio Shacks markdown policy on disco items put if they can not get 60-75% of new they trash the stuff now days.

Funny you should ask. Just got it. Serial Number 2267. No faceplate issues like the psr800. Nice solid feeling radio like his older brother the psr800.

Best 79 dollars spent
