I have a three questions:

1. is TGID 3200 (SLC PD Narc 1 on the SLCPS AC33) always as busy as it is today? I just put it into the scanner yesterday for the first time and it's constantly going. My options are to lock it out and not hear the fun but still listen to other traffic on other stations, OR let it run and miss everything else. I only have 1 trunking scanner or I'd hold the station and listen to other traffic from another scanner.

2. VHF freq 153.9500. is that really Utah County EMS Dispatch? If it is, then why is it the only Utah County station I can receive? Every other current Utah Co freq I have just gets scanned over without picking anything up.

3. Do we know dates and times for a February meeting of the Utah Scanner and Radio Group?

I can only lend some insight to your first question since I do not receive any Utah County traffic. SLC PD Narc squad goes through periods of high profile arrests and then backs into the shadows for a while. They may carry this campaign they are on today for a couple of days, but then they will stand down as the word gets out that they are hitting the buyers and sellers hard. After a while the drug traffic will pick up again and so will the Narc squad. The traffic you are hearing today comes and goes in waves.

You will hear traffic on this TG at other times, too, but not like what they are doing today.

I can take a stab at the third question....

It was mentioned at the last meeting that the VHF society Swap meet is this month. We talked briefly about making that the meeting. We would likely have a time and place to meet, then get lunch after.

I don't know the details of the events so someone will need to add that.

It is Utah County, but it may be located at Sundance to cover Provo Canyon. It comes in weak along the Provo mountainfront, but I've heard it strong in the Uintas!

It looks like you are located in West Jordan. I pick up a lot of conventional Utah County traffic from downtown Salt Lake. Maybe you are shadowed from some of the transmitters.

There actually are several repeaters for this frequency in UtCo. Sundance yes for the Provo Canyon area. Teat for Spanish Fork Canyon area and the rest of the county off of Lake Mountain. That is why you probably hear it rather well in West Jordan. I suspect you should hear 154.860 (VHF simocast for UtCo North TG 46112) good as well for it comes from the Lake repeater. In my truck I can get 153.950 as far north as Willard and as far south as Levan.
In Eagle Mountain we have an RF problem due to geography and the repeaters on the mountain being there before the town was here. Therefore the fire dept was not getting some pages. To fix this a microwave tower was installed at the other end of the valley at the Cedar Fort fire station which basically boosts the signal off of Lake to hit the east side of Cedar Valley that is in the repeaters "shadow."
This also makes it somewhat difficult to pick up UCAN Site 4 even though if basically right above my head and I know the deputies with County who patrol out here are always complaining about the radio coverage. Someday UCAN will probably have to build another site to add to UC Simo, presumeably in the Lone Tree area, to get adequate coverage. Especially if EM get anywhere near buildout (approx 150,000).
Back to 153.950 I have it set as my priority channel and have had NO problems anywhere in the county, valley or canyon, with reception.
Sorry for the long-winded answer but this hopefully will answer a couple of peoples questions.
