• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Our company completed an upgrade from APX CPS version 18 to 19 over the last month and we have run into one annoying issue and I am hoping to get some help. When you launch the APX CPS program and attempt to log into radio management it prompts for the Server IP and Port. Upon entering the information we are hit with the error " Security Negotiation failed, check certificate compatibility on the client or server". On the radio management Server I have added a user to the Utility program but it does not seem to help. I have been able to get into radio management if I launch the program as administrator AND login to the local admin account. I have tried adding a new account to the local administrators group and then using that as a login but it will not work. It only works with the original local admin account. The goal is to have a few users at their stations able to run APX CPS (Radio Management) without having to run local admin every time. Thank you.

While checking MOL for new subscriber firmware downloads yesterday I found this added to the description of APX CPS R19.00.01 with Radio Management: "There is a known connectivity issue when the RM Server is running in a workgroup (non-domain) and the remote RMC client is running on a domain. Customers with this setup will experience a connection error. To work around this issue, use a computer that is not on the domain for the RMC client. ".

I moved up to R19.00.01 on the RM side recently and so far mine is working. I'd recommend contacting Motorola. You may need to go back to an earlier version until they get this fixed/replaced.

You may still have 18 on your computer, I just learned today that whole-version updates deliberately don't overwrite (i.e. 17 to 18 or 18 to 19) so that you can fall back if needed. 18.00 to 18.21 would overwrite.
