I hope someone has some ideas that may help me with the following problem.

1. Recently purchased BR330T scanner
2. Firmware version is 1.00.02
3. Downloaded BC_VUP software and BR330T_V1_01_05 software to update firmware
4. The file BR330T_V1_01_05.scn is created when the above file with the same name is
unzipped
5. When I attempt to update the firmware after connecting the BR330Ta Communication
error (117) message.

I also have the ARC330 software which autodetects the BR330T and with which I have downloaded frequencies and operated the scanner in virtual mode.

Is there some subtle thing that needs to be done with the BC_VUP software or scanner that I'm missing? The process seems pretty straightforward (connect scanner, set com port, open file, and start).

Thanks for any assistance.

You left out "remove batteries, hold L/O and 6 while plugging in AC adapter" from the above. If you aren't doing this, the update won't work.

The only other common problem is not selecting the correct COM port or having other software that uses the COM port running at the same time.

I left that out of my post, but I did use AC power only during the attempted updates.

I'll check to see if other programs are attempting to use the comport. I still wonder why the ARC330 software behaves differently.

Thanks.

UPMan,

Eureka!!
The firmware successfully updated after I followed your exact instructions. I had not been holding the L/O and 6 keys "while plugging in the AC power".

I reread your note and saw that I only did part of what you described. I tried holding the L/O and 6 keys before after the scanner was on and saw no effect.

Thanks for the help.
