Problem with my new 246T.. Reset an option??

Tonight the button on top that you turn to scroll the menu with, quit functioning when I push it down to select.

Works fine for scrolling, but it doesn't do anything when I click it down.

Any ideas what might have happened? It is less than a month old.

UPDATE

I called the place that I bought it from, they suggested doing a manual reset on it, and said that it might solve the problem.

What button combination do I use to do a reset?

Is there a way to reset without loosing all the frequencys I've stored on it?

And does this sound like something that might work?

Just thought I'd check with some of you with experience before I go ahead and try it out.

With the unit off press and hold down the 2,9, hold buttons, then turn the unit on.

Yes, this will erase your memory.

You can use the Butel backup utility to restore after the reset.

I've been thinking of getting the Butel, I think I better get one headed this way soon! LOL

My main concern is.... Do you think that the reset will have a good chance of fixing the problem I am having? If it has nothing to do with it, I'm not going to clear my memory for nothing.


(Just didn't want to do it unless there is a good chance that it could fix the "knob select" problem I'm having.)

I have never heard of it happening as part of any configuration issue, so no, I don't really think it will help.

OTOH, the backup utility is free, so it doesn't cost anything to try. And, there are things in this world the likes of which I have never heard.

Hmm even if it don't fix your problem then at least one good think came from this thread. I never knew about that there push to select button Sure does make things a bit easier.

Well ya got me there because I never even looked at the manual until I read this thread I think I'm gonna start reading the manuals to all my radios and find out what features I'm missing :lol:
