My HP-1 has the Extreme Edition. The firmware and software are up-to-date. I usually use display mode 1. Thru time I have collected the identity of many local officers and "labeled" them. For example, I prefer to see on the screen "PD 304 detective" rather than "UID-13123". For reasons not clear to me any UID that appears for which I do NOT have a stored alias is suddenly showing up as "och 800 TRS." which is a truncated portion of the name of one of my favorite lists. Where there IS an alias stored for a UID, the label displays correctly. Display mode 2 does the same. Changing to another favorite lists or to even Nationwide data makes no difference in his incorrect display. In all other aspects the HP-1 seems to be working correctly including the 'analyze" features. Batteries are only charged externally in a MAHA 9000, the HP-1 has not been dropped or physically damaged and looks like new although it is 2.5 years old. This odd behavior started 2 days ago out-of-the-blue. My local UID research is at a standstill as any new (unknown UID) is not displayed, instead every time an unknown UID is received the incorrect alias "och 800 TRS" is displayed.
Looking at the grid list of labels in software, they all look fine as originally entered and the strange (false) ID is not listed.
Suggestions on solving the problem?
