Hey guys new here, had a quick question about a newly acquired TM271A. I wanted to re-program the radio that came in my Baja Bug so I downloaded the software read up on how to go about it and went to get started. Problem is I cant get into the menu. Hitting function and then menu has no effect just goes right back to the main screen. Tried a hard reset (power of hit function and turn power on) and that didn't work either. Don't know if I am totally missing something or what. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you using this for amateur radio or Baja races? This radio is front panel programmable without any problems.

So yes we are using it in our Baja race car and it has a front panel which is programmable, and I have the manual however however the problem is when I press the function key and the f does appear on the lower left of the face, as soon as I press the menu button it takes away the function icon and I can't access the menu, I can't seem to make the two buttons work together to get into reprogram the radio. Thanks

After consulting the manual, the only thing I can think of that could be creating this condition is the LOCK function. Just for the heck of it, try holding down the F key for one second (to unLOCK the radio) and then see if your menu key will work correctly.

It's worth a try.
