• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Let's step through this:

CPS 10.0 Build 510 installed and you rebooted, correct?
After reboot you can read and write to your 6550?
You downloaded the firmware update package R01.12.02 for PORTABLES, ran the executable and rebooted, correct?
After reboot, when you connect your 6550 to the CPS and click on device and update, it says no matching packages found? Correct?

You didn't attempt to redirect the installation files of either the Trbo CPS or the firmware files from where they wanted to install themselves by default? (That won't work)

R01.06.20 is really old. You might want to try a much earlier file for upgrade first, there are some huge architecture changes between 01.06 and .07. I would look for something in 1.07 or very early 01.08 as a mid upgrade and try to two step the radio, although you shouldn't get the no matching packages found message in any case.

I am assuming you are running at least Windows 7, since Windows XP or earlier is NOT SUPPORTED in Release 10 and may or may not work correctly depending on your computer hardware.

Over to you.....

The Readme file states XP is supported and I'm running it on my XP work computer without any problems.

I am running windows 7. little oversight on my part, downloaded the firmware for mobiles not the portables. once i downloaded the firmware for the portables everything went fine. now if i can only get the entitlement id to unlock 25khz programming. I took the 10min class on Friday and it said wait 24-48hours before trying to order the entitlement id. tried Sunday with no luck and tried again yesterday and still couldn't order it so i called and was told it could take up to 72 hours for their system to let me order the id. grrrr
