I use Sony WI-C310 Bluetooth earbuds with my R30. Great sound and excellent battery life.
Thanks. I dug out a pair of Sony WI-C100 earbuds just to see how they compare with the JLAB earbuds, and they're charging as I write this.

Both sets of earbuds are in the $20 range, so I don't expect any major difference in performance, but what the heck . . .

I'm curious, however, about how Icom's $160 earbuds might sound, but I'm not curious enough to fork over that kind of money just to find out. I'm guessing the extra cost of the Icom earbuds is due to the controls that have been built into them.

I've always been a big fan of Icom receivers and transceivers, but holy smokes, they've really gotten super expensive over the years, especially the accessories it seems.

I happen to have the Icom VS-3 (bought when the price was much, much lower) and it’s a very good little unit; the integration with Icom radios is understandably excellent. Granted they are very pricey now but you might find a good used one for sensible money.

There are other similar units available.

What I would say is that whichever other Bluetooth unit I use, particularly headphones or headsets, there tends to be a continuous low-level background hiss when the squelch is closed. It’s not offensive but it is there. The VS-3 doesn’t do this as it presumably mutes when the squelch closes.

Just a heads up, Best Buy frequently has the WI-C310 on sale for $20 if you're patient. I have several backups and bought them for family members too. Sony advertises 15 hour battery life. They charge very fast too. I give them a half hour charge every night and they get me through a shift at work.

Thanks for the tip, G7RUX.

The WI-C100 Sony earplugs I bought seem to be working very nicely, considering their relatively low price.

I'll pay a little more attention to whether or not there's any low-level background noise emanating from them, but so far, they're doing well.

Happy monitoring!

Thanks . . . I'll take a look at the WI-C310's the next time I'm at our closest Best Buy store in Santa Fe.

The $20 Sony CI-W100's I bought at Walmart are doing pretty well, so I may stick with them for the time being.

Happy monitoring!
