I did not label my previous post correctly so trying again I am using Windows 2000 and it is a 1200 mhz laptop. Receiving a 9600 baud Apco 25 signal and setting up the Pro 2096 correctly I would receive the CC for a couple of seconds and the program would crash. Once in awhile I could get it to run maybe 10 seconds before it would crash. I even went mobile thinking I could get closer to the tower and improve my reception of the CC for a better decode.
Yesterday I increased the latency setting and that seemed to help. As soon as I got 10 seconds of data I saved it. I keep loading the program and saving. Sometimes it would only take a couple of seconds to "BOMB" sometimes it went longer. Over 5 or 10 minutes it went longer and longer before it crashed. Before long I was going 10 minutes, then 30 minutes and soon it did not crash anymore.
Can anyone explain why this is. It seems like once the data files were written and had data in them the program no longer crashed? Why would that be. This morning I tried my whip antenna where the reception of the CC is much poorer and the program is not crashing. In the beginning I assumed this was the source of the crashes, ie poor CC reception but apparently not. Again the only thing seems to be the data files???
When I go to another area and want to decode another tower will I have this same problem and how can I prevent it? BTW I did not ever have any optional screens selected, just the standard, default ones. This is wierd!!! Any ideas?
