What is the best practice for programming two hotspots into Icom DR (D-Star) memory - since the same callsign can't be duplicated in DR memory? I have two hotspots, a ZUM spot and OpenSpot 4 Pro, and would like to program one DR channel for each hotspot. Both hotspots have my callsign programmed into them, but DR memory seems to only allow one channel per callsign. When I try to add two channels - one for each hotspot - DR memory won't store the second channel, and displays the error message: Duplicate callsign.

How does one use D-Star with two different hotspots from DR memory?

And if it's not possible, is there an alternative best practice?

Does it make any difference that I want to use both hotspots to also be able to access multiple modes?

Not sure if this is what you mean but this is what i did on my 9700
dual hotspot.jpg

The first line is one Openspot3 for D-STAR and the second line is another Openspot3 for Fusion (the second OS3 is configured for cross mode)

I did the same on my ID-52 and D74.

Hope it helps

Is that in ‘REGULAR’ memory? Or is that DR memory? I suspect that is ‘regular’ memory … which is not preferable because afaik, it’s more difficult to change UR commands from ‘regular’ memory. If that is regular memory in the screen shot, how do you handle UR commands? Thanks for your reply!

well dang it! I am trying to do this on my ID-31a Plus from front panel programming, and it doesn't want to accept more than one unique callsign in DR memory. Thanks for posting this!

Well in a way this is true. If you look at the pictures you can see that the 8th Character is unique on each line for my call sign. I programmed this over a year ago. I don't operate mobile or away from home so for me configuring ma radios is a set and forget kind of thing. I believe the 8th character at the end of your call sign is mandatory.
