I just bought a Uniden BCD396xt Scanner and I don't have the slightest clue (even after reading the manuals) on how to program it to frequencies set for Ottawa. I know the EMS/Fire talkgroups run on an EDACS Networked Standard system. But I'd like to know how to go about doing this. I'm new to scanning so if you can dumb it down to my level it would really help haha. Anyone??

well its alot more complicated than entering one frequency and listening. You need to read up on trunking systems, ottawa edacs is one and bell fleetnet is another you will want to program. There is a program Freescan that will allow free programming from your computer as well if you get a premium subscription here you can directly program from the database with very little effort. if you want to hear some action now tho i suggest following the sticky at the top of the page that tells you how to program fleetnet by hand.
