I feel kind of intimadated by coming to a posting like this but I don't know where else to go. I used a Radio Shack scanner for years and was happy to listen to local police and fire calls. A couple of years ago the PD switched to a trunking system so I bought a Radio Shack Pro 95. Problem with that was that I was gettting evey Pct And Firehouse in the county so an ex coworker recommeneded the Uniden BC246T. He said that the Pro 95 wasn't capable of just selecting Pcts etc, that I wanted. I sold the brand new Pro 95 on EBAY and purchsed the BC 246T. Well I always considered myself reasonably intelligent but programming this thing just gives me a headache. I purchased a program called ARC246 but I was only able to once again get all PCTS in the county, and don't ask me how I even managed to accomplish that The scanner has been sitting on a shelf for over a year because I dread reading the manual AGAIN. Does anyone know if there is any place I can bring it and pay to have it programmed? I saw a posting on here that said that Uniden would program it but I would have to send them the frequencies, I wouldn't know what to send them. I live in Suffolk County New York and just want the 6th and 7th Pct calls, car to car transmissions and a few fire departments.
The nice weather is coming and I used to love to sit outside on the porch and listen to the scanner. I would apprecaite any help . Thanks

Look in the "database" section on this site, drill your way down to Suffolk county, all the freqs and talk groups for SCPD are there. Give the software another try, it's not bad at all once you get the hang of it.
