Programing Michigan's Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) in my Scanner?

For years I have been programming all frequencies for each tower on my banks.
I wanted to ask this question to all of you out there should I be programing all the frequencies for each tower or should I be programing just the Primary Control Channel and Alternet Control Channel to each of my banks?

What make/model scanner? If it's a uniden scanner you just need to program the control channels and, if it's an older scanner like a BC296D, you need to set it to the right plan. If it's a Radio Shack, GRE or Whistler scanner I have no idea how to program those.

Just to remind you the Pro96 does not cover 700 mhz there are 700mhz freqs in the MPSCS System

You probably will have problems due to the simulcast with a scanner that old. I have the Pro 18, Radio Shack's last digital scanner, and with the upgrade it is good in my area, but some systems using simulcast are difficult to monitor successfully.

OP doesn't say where in the state they are located so simulcast may or may not be an issue, I don't see any simulcast north of the Bay City-Saginaw areas.

I am in Washtenaw County, about 25 miles from Detroit. Nothing but simulcast on the MPSCS.

Actually, Radio Shack's last digital scanner was the Pro-668, which is also part of the Legacy Upgrade.

668 and Pro 18 both have the update. 668 is the same as Pro 18.

Just the red primary and the blue alternates. If primary goes down it will go to the alternate automatically. Do not program all the voice channel/frequencies.

Northville is not simulcast.

I was referring to the county level, not individual entities. In some parts of the state, smaller jurisdictions are still using FM on lower frequencies.

668 is the same as Pro 18.

The PRO-18 was P25 Phase 1 only, had only 100 play lists, lacked scan sets, and had a front panel layout completely different than the PRO-668 which was P25 Phase 2, had 200 scan lists and had 20 scan sets.
