Programing my new PRO 106

Hello,

I just purchased a RS Pro 106 Scanner. I kind of have an idea on how to program but I'm really confused on is the "TYPE". If I know a frequency to enter, how do I know which "TYPE" to use: MOT 800/900,
MOT VHF/UHF, P25 Manual, P25 Auto, EDACS STD, EDACS Narrow, or LTR ? Can someone please show me how to program working frequencies for the following:

EDWARDS AFB (California)
Point Mugu Naval Base (California)
LAPD (California)
Simi Valley Police Department and Sheriff (California)

Also, I'm not sure how to use WIN500 Software. I look at it and don't know where to begin. I have the USB cable interface (scanner to computer).

A follow up to my first set of questions, is how do I know if a frequency is to be programed under "Talking Group" or "Conventional" ?
