How do I get everything back into one scan list. Also I am in Niles Michigan how do I find Niles Michigan Local police. I feel really stupid. This is what happens when I use a product and it works great and I do not mess with it to keep up with it . Now it is like starting all over. I am using the psr-800 program to program scanner. AAnysuggestions greatly apperciated. Take Care all

Hey cheese, I'm probably not going to be much help to you but I saw your post and I thought I'd steer you in the right direction.

I first got my psr-800 I'm going to guess around 2011 Maybe? I just don't remember. In its day it was a great radio but these days with simulcast distortion secondary to LSM it's kind of obsolete now but depending on what frequencies you're listening to it could be a very good radio for you.

I haven't used my psr-800 or the rebranded Whistler radios the 1095 and the trx-1 for a while now. In 2015 my County went Phase 2 simulcast tdma rendering my GRE Whistler radios useless and they are in a closet now. Although they are P 2 capable they just don't work on my system.

Somebody will help you with the psr-800, you said that you are using the right program for the 800 which you would have gotten off of a CD disc that came with the radio. Don't know what update you would have put in but I don't think that radio has been supported for long time. Somebody here will help you I'm sure.

As far as having it work perfectly and now it doesn't I see that you're asking for the Niles City police frequency so you must have been missing that and you live in Niles City.

I also see that you've been on RR since 2011 and you have over a hundred post so this would be a good time to learn about the database which has all the information that you are looking for.

I live in Pennsylvania and don't know the first thing about Michigan but it only took me a few minutes to see what the deal is, that is if your State's database is accurate which it probably is.

Looks like your County Berrien uses the state p25 phase one Statewide system MPSCS. Your County Fire dispatch is talk group 3130 and Niles City Police is talk group 13026. Again, if the listings are accurate it would appear that the police are rebroadcast on 453.975.
You would have to try and figure it out yourself if Berrien County Fire is on the p25 system as listed and Niles city is involved in all of those talk groups or if Niles city is still using their old VHF high frequencies. Could be a mix of both. I'm curious as to what frequencies you have programmed in your radio now.

Simply go to the database, go to Michigan, go to your county and the listings are there including Niles City. It looks like the Statewide system does have encrypted frequencies that are sensitive like drug task force type stuff but it also appears that police dispatch are in the clear for the most part. It appears to be a very impressive system.

As far as the radio goes, again it's been a long time since I programed a psr-800 but I would probably clear the decks and just do it again after you look up the frequencies and talk groups that you want. If your Statewide system is susceptible to simulcast distortion secondary to LSM you may have problems with the psr-800 picking them up, I have no way of knowing and you just have to try it and see how it works. If it doesn't come in well with broken missed Transmissions you will know what the problem is.

Once you get your radio straightened out and check out the database for the frequencies and talk groups that you want then you should head to the Michigan State forum where you will find everything you want to know as I'm sure your Statewide system is covered extensively there. Good luck.

Are you using GRECOM PSR-800 Digital Handheld Scanner software? If so, I will put together a programming file for you that you can send to the scanner. It looks like the nearest site to Niles on the MPSCS system is Sumnerville.

Niles was talked into using NXDN and patching into the MPSCS the last I knew. I am from Niles, and when I visit my upgraded PSR monitors them on the MSPCS system. If you were using the original software and attempted a recent update, your best (and maybe only) choice is to send it to Whistler for the upgrade. Both my PSR 800 and RS Pro-18 benefitted from the new firmware update. It does not ionclude NXDN due to not enough memory, but using the MPSCS link should get you the Niles PD.

To both of you thanks for replying. Yes I am using the psr-800 software . I had everything downloaded into one scan list on scanner. I had some free time Sunday I was using scanner and thought to check and see if there was a update for the software and everything went downhill I ended up erasing the setup I had on scanner and can not get it back to the way I had it. I need to learn how to program scanner the correct way and I would like to put everything back into one scan list .I would also like to get Michigan State police into scanner and learn how to do this . Thanks for all the help .

I am almost done with the file. I have it broken down into 4 scan lists which cover just about everything in Berrien Co including Berrien PD and the Berrien state police post. The scan lists will all scan when you turn it on. It gives you a little more control over what you want to listen to. The 4 lists are 1. Berrien Co Fire, 2. Berrien Co EMS, 3. Berrien Co PD, and 4. MI State Police. I can put it all in a single list if you would like it that way. If you only want to listen to Police, you can turn off scan lists 1 and 2. I have and things to do today and I should have the file completed this evening. Please let me know about how you would like the scan lists.

Here is the completed file with 4 scan lists. It would be very easy to put everything in a single list. Save the file to your computer in the Documents folder. Go to the File tab in the PSR800 software and click on Restore From Archive. Select the Niles Michigan file and Open. Go to the Scanner/SD Card tab and click on Copy Configuration To Scanner Memory/SD Card and follow the on screen instructions. Sit back and have a sandwich while the software writes to the scanner.

Thanks TVENGR. This is really awesome of you to help me out. Will this list also have fire + ems ect .I will try this. Instructions on the psr-800 are sketchy at best. I had my psr 800 set and had not messed with it for quite awhile as far as set up ect I just turned it on and listened to it. To be honest I might not have had it set up correctly from the beginning but it worked mostly listening to local and berrien sheriff. Is there some where that has step by step instructions so I do not mess it up. At one point I had alarms and lighting settings set up but it interferes with the station you are listening to have you noticed this also. I will download this when I get home from work tonight I work 2nd shift. Again thanks for all your time.

Yes, you have Fire and EMS. You also have Niles Post 53 of the Michigan State Police. There is a total of 54 talkgroups. As in an earlier post, here are the scan lists: 1. Berrien Co Fire, 2. Berrien Co EMS, 3. Berrien Co PD, 4. MI State Police. I assume that your scanner should work the same as my Whistler WS1080. I will work on a set of instructions for turning the scan lists on and off. Once you have the file in your software, you will be able to see how the programming is done and have a good idea of how to do it yourself. It is safer to make changes in the software than in the scanner menus. You should do no more than turn the scan lists on and off using the menus. Please let me know how well the scanner works.

Here are some instructions for turning the 4 scan lists on and off. When you turn on the scanner, if not scanning, look at the screen. If it says Main Menu, there should be a cursor (right facing arrow) on the right side of the screen on the same line as Scan. If it is, press SEL. The scanner will begin scanning. The 4 scan lists, Berrien Co Fire, Berrien Co EMS, Berrien Co PD, and MI State Police, will be displayed on the screen when nothing is being received. Press the Menu button. Screen will show Main Menu. Use the Down Arrow to move the cursor down to Scanlists. Press SEL. You will see the 4 scan lists displayed with a check mark to the left of each one. The check mark means ON. A box means Off. The cursor will be next to Berrien Co Fire. Press SEL. The check mark will change to a box. Use the down arrow to move the cursor to Berrien Co EMS. Press SEL. The check mark will change to a box. You just turned off scan lists 1 (Fire) and 2 (EMS). Press Menu. The cursor will be at Scan. Press SEL to begin scanning. You will see only Berrien Co PD and MI State Police on the screen. To enable the Fire and EMS scan lists, press Menu. Use the Down Arrow to move the cursor to Scanlists. Press SEL. Cursor will be at Berrien Co Fire. Press SEL. The box will change to a check mark. Use the Down Arrow to move the cursor to Berrien Co EMS. Press SEL. The box will change to a check mark. You just turned on scan lists 1 (Fire) and 2 (EMS). Press Menu. The cursor will be at Scan. Press SEL to begin scanning. All 4 scan lists will be displayed.

One thing you might want to consider is sending your scanner to Whistler for the Legacy Upgrade. They will convert it to a Whistler WS1080. That will add DMR as well as give you the ability to use the latest Whistler firmware updates. I have seen many reports of improved performance after the upgrade. You will then use the WS1080 EZ Scan software for programming and the firmware, library, and application updates. After the upgrade, your scanner will be eligible for service by Whistler.

I want to take a look at your file. When you get a chance, go to the File tab and Save to Archive. Rename the CDAT file to Niles Test. Please verify that the top line of your software reads GRECOM PSR-800 Digital Handheld Scanner. Attach the Niles Test file to your post so that I can check it for any problems. I loaded the file that I sent you into my PSR-800 software and it looked OK, I also loaded it into my Whistler WS1080 software and sent it to my scanner. All 4 scan lists were showing on my 1080.

ZIP code programming is the worst way. If you do the legacy upgrade via whistler, you get to use ezscan for the WS1080, this allows you to select "preferred" as the import method which means you can literately pick and choose what you want. GRE version of ezscan has been abandoned many years ago, the ws1080 version of ezscan is still being updated.

For some reason, he refuses to use the file that I gave him which is specifically programmed for his county. That file also includes 3 scan sets so that he can select scan lists 1-150 for programmed scan lists, 151-200 for zip code scanning using the library, and 1-200 for using both. I tried to explain to him about the problems using the library and zip code scanning, but he insists on doing it anyway. He says that he cannot copy the configuration to the scanner to load my file. If that were true, he couldn't copy the library either. I did several PM's with him. The configuration file that he sent me showed nothing but a ton of library files. At first, he said that nothing happened when he clicked on Restore From Archive. Later, he couldn't Copy Configuration To Scanner/SD Card.

Thanks for all your help so far. I am thinking somthing it the software side on computer is not set up correctly from the tabs on the bottom. I even did a reinstall of psr-800 software . It is probaly something simple.

You have to delete all the scanner files in the "my documents folder" in order to remove everything and start over. Or you could just make a new vscanner folder if you are knowledgeable enough on the software and scanner.
