Today I was trying to update my scanner and try to use Talkgroups instead of listening to all the Ct State Police frequencies as I have been. It's like asking for directions instead of driving around in circles, you can tell I waste a lot of gas.
I have the Butel program for my BC250D and started to add the information, Trunk System settings and ID list. So far so good, then I saw the CSP use a Motorola II, and Butel asked for ID and TAG. When I looked at the CSP information I had it has DEC / HEX / Mode / Display / Description (like below).
DEC HEX Mode Display Description
4016 0fb D 17 F-DISP Troop F - Dispatch

I was hoping somebody knew the translation or could point me in the right direction.

The DEC is the talkgroup number you'd program into your scanner. Put in the talkgroups you want to listen to. The DISP is typically what is displayed on the radios of the system you are monitoring. That's not important for scanning purposes. The tag can be whatever you want your scanner to display when it stops on the talkgroup.

Dave-

Here's a good place to get info and files to program your 250...

Of course, all the info you need is right here in the RR Database, but I think there's a CT State PD file in this group--so all you'd have to do is download it, and load it with your Butel software.

Good luck, and happy New Year.
