• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I really need to get hold of some software to program a MPA EDACS. I´d rather have a working radio than a paper weight. :?
Al the links i´ve found so far have been dead.. can somebody help me find it.. Prefferably the windows version (ProGrammer) but i would be interested in the DOS version (EDACS1?) as well.

Mission Impossible??

Should it be totaly impossible to get hold of any software for programming a more than 10 year old radio?!?! (MPA EDAC)
Have been working with proffessional radio for several years and do understand why you dont wan´t every hometech to have them.

But if i would go to a GE radio service place and give them a list or equal of how i wanted my radio programmed they would:

1:laugh in ma face and say "we cant help you with this"..
2:program it all wrong and i would have to come back to get it re programed just to get something else wrong and then go back.. and that would probably just continue over and over and over again..... And if i finaly would get it right i would still have to come back to get any changes done like adding new frequencies or options.. and then it would start all over again..

So it would be a lot easier if the software at least was possible to get hold off for anyone that at least know what there doing. It would probably be much easier for both the service places and the customers with knowledge. And deffinetly a lot cheaper for those who only have their radio equipment for fun a hobby or a passion.

So PLEASE if anyone know how to do to get hold of ANY software at all that i can get hold of to reprogram my MPA EDAC radio, PLEASE tell me how. And don´t tell me to Call M/A COM because they really don´t seem like they want to help anyone that isn´t a quallyfied retail or service store.

A great thank´s to anyone that at least try to help me.

Call MA/COM and purchase a copy of the software. This is not a message forum to illegally barter and trade for software that....

1. Costs money.

2. Is protected by license agreements.

... and that is what you are doing.

No different than saying, "Someone sent me this Microsoft Visio document, and I can't read it, can someone send me a free pirated copy of MS Visio?"

...or....

"I really like the new snoop-dog song, can someone just send me the MP3, I don't feel like paying for it."

Snoop Dog vs. MPA...

You do have some good points.. but why is the conventional software out on every possible EDAC/GE site when the EDAC version isn´t?
Isn´t the conv. SW just as protected by licenses etc.?

"Why can i only download the 1st song on Snoop Dogs latest album but not the second or the last??"

Yea right. Do it the right way.

I do not think folks would be asking others for help if they could:

(1) Take care of a problem by themselves, and
(2) Go and buy through direct means from the vendor.

An addemdum to #2 should be:

(1) It will cost you $2,500 just for ProGrammer
(2) You must establish and be approved for an account.
(3) To get the account you must have your credit verified
(4) You then must list your bank and 3 business reference that will veriify your company.
(5) Did I mention you must be a company and not an individual? Better to also buy your business license while you are at it.
(6) Then, if you get through all of this, you must make a minimum of a $500.00 purchase to have the account established. Of course, $2,500.00 for ProGrammer will meet this requirement.
AND
(7) Having gone through these flaming hoops of fire for the ProGrammer, you cannot buy any equipment.

So I must ask, who is more user friendly: Motorola or MA/COM? I do not advocate pirating software, or cheating the system. But it sure looks like the system is doing the cheating. So while I can understand telling someone to go and do it the right way, we should also mention that only a gifted few really can.

Thank you!!

Finally someone at this forum that understands!!

I dont mind paying for me and do the "right thing" but there are some extreme limitations. I acctually tried to contact M/A Com about it but they never replied? Anyway I totaly agree to what Cris54 just wrote.

So wake upp M/A COM!! The least you could do is to make some kind of private license, or maybe somekind of HAM License for your software at a reasonable price and without all this limitations. You would probably make more money that way.

Acctually i don't care anymore i have recieved some help already, I am sorry to say that the help didn't come from anyone at this forum, and that really dissapoint me. I will never again ask you for any help since i probably allready know the answere! Call M/A COM!!!

Ari, I understand your fustration... trust me...

However, being that this is a public forum, and I know for a fact that MA/COM reps very consistently review stuff on these forums - I feel obligated to "tow the party line" as the admin of the site.
