Programming a 996 p2

I currently have a 996p2 in a vehicle looking to upgrade the programming
Without pulling the scanner out of the vehicle what’s the easy way to program it

a laptop. proscan or software package, the programming cable, and an internet connection of some sort.

Yes on laptop, also can use Freescan or ARC996 . Edit as per tvenger comment below you can also use ARCXT.
Far as the internet connection, not needed once you have the programming file on your laptop. Net connection will be needed for a firmware update though. Latest firmware is 1.08.01

I've used FreeScan to program the BCD996P2. If you want the leave the radio installed, you'll need a laptop/etc.

ARC996 is for the 996T. You need ARC-XT for the 996P2. You can also use ProScan or FreeSCAN or FREEScan as Doc spells it.
