Programming a Pro-137

I am looking to write software to program my new Pro-137. I know I can purchase this, but I want to do this in an effort to better understand the radio and as a programming exercise. Where are the various commands that actually drive the unit? I have been looking with no luck.

In general, you need to be an insider to RadioShack in order to get the protocol for radio programming and or control functions. I would try contacting them through the web site, but be prepared to get general answers that they do not provide programming instructions. The support department has a few levels.
