The closest sites to Demotte, in order of distance are: 1.8, 1.1, 1.91, 1.17. If I were you, I'd program all four of those sites into the scanner, with the same scanlist, and see which one receives the best at that location. If a couple sites receive about the same I'd leave them both scanning to see which site/s carries the traffic that she wants to hear.

What site names (on the SAFE-T map) do those numbers correspond to??? I am not aware of any sites in\near Demotte.

Match the numbers I gave you, with the numbers on the bottom of the map, and that will give you the names.

The map I have from 2020 (the one I posted) doesn't have any site names with decimal points in them, you must have a diff map and can you provide it. Also why are you playing this mystery game with me? Also, I listed the sites I am aware of in my OP and NONE of them are anywhere near Demotte.

If you're reading about many different sites on the same system. If there is a decimal, the first number before the decimal is the Region. Indiana has two regions; 1 = North, 2 = South. Other states may only have 1 Region, or may have several. For SAFE-T, Site 1.1 = Region 1 Site 1 = Lake Co simulcast. Site 1.8 = Region 1 Site 8 = Porter Co Simulcast, and so on. Look at your map again, the key is divided into North and South. You're looking for North sites 1, 8, 17, and 91. As you'll find out, they in fact do surround Demotte; and you've learned how to read Site numbers.

Why is teaching you how to read Site numbers important?... go to each one of those sites in the RRDB, and look at their Neighbor List (NL) aka Peer list. That list is given with sites numbers that include decimals.

Read the neighbor/peer list on sites 1, 8, 17, 91. Excluding Site 1 (because that list isn't populated yet) Sites 8 and 17 are a neighbor of Site 91. Generally, not always, but generally, on SAFE-T, if a site is a neighbor of another site, then it will also carry that county's talkgroups when applicable.

Those happened to be all the sites I mentioned in my OP (except Porter) so why did you waste all my time playing this freaking mystery game, when you knew that I knew all of the sites out around Demotte already. And I'll have you know Bud, that I know damn well how to read the site map. Look at the list of scanners below in my sig, I damn sure didn't have someone program them for me. Why didn't you just admit it that Demotte is not in an ideal reception and and you'll have to see which one is best and should have referred to the site names like most people do & not their BS numbers that mean nothing to most people???????????????? To say that I'm pissed about an a-hole like you wasting my time is an understatement.

My vote would be the Porter County Simulcast (1-008) or the Lake County Simulcast (1-001). There is no site named "Lowell", though there may be a tower there that is part of the Lake County Simulcast.

There is no SAFE-T site specifically for Demotte. You will have to do your own research to figure out which SAFE-T handles Demotte traffic. I would assume that Demotte talkgroups are carried by several sites in the area.

The SAFE-T sites closest to Demotte are:
1-001 Lake County Simulcast (which has a tower near Lowell)
1-008 Porter County Simulcast (which has a tower in the Hebron-Kouts area)
1-091 Rensselaer
1-017 Medaryville

Simulcast sites act as one site even though they have multiple towers. All frequencies listed for a simulcast site are used by all towers included in the "site".

Do you think he's trying to get an answer to a question; or do you think he's just trying to argue with everyone? Remember, he said he programmed his pile of scanners with no problems.

Good luck with all that. 🤣

Also do you know if Lake & Porter is Phase 1 or 2 and where do you see that in the RR database. And does being Simulcast not necessarily mean the county is phase II

I did program my scanners with no probs, BUT I don't live in Demotte, and this programming would be for a friend who lives there. That is why I'm asking. If you don't think I know what I'm doing, then just give my feed a listen (link in sig) and you'll see that I do.

No, I don't know. I don't live in northwest Indiana. You asked this question in August and the answer hasn't changed.

From the database:

Simulcast has nothing to do with being APCO P25 Phase 1 or Phase 2.

SAFE-T. is currently phase I, though will be upgraded in the near future to phase II. IPSC has already put out the no more new phase I only radios warning, and only phase II capable radios will be allowed. Removal of older radios is progressing, with current focus on getting all the discontinued XTS/XTL stuff gone and replaced with APX and other phase II capable radios. (Finally!)
