Hi group,

I would like to enquire our there what software I need to program my XTS3000 Type3?.

I have built my own RIB box, Programming cable and I have tried using my DOS XTS RSS software version 8.5 and the result was "Code Plug to new for Application".

Any advice would be appreciated and where I can obtain the program.

Cheers

Hi Phil.
OK programming these radios isn't simple at all, if asnything, its very complicated. The reason it says that the code plug is too new for this application, is that the current programming of the radio has been done with a much later version then the DOS RSS 8.5. These days, XTS3000's are programmed with Motorola CPS software, which is windows based. Once a radio has been programmed with the latest version, it is't backward programmable with older software versions.
Your best bet would be to try and get your hands on the latest version of CPS somehow. Buying it is the best way, but Motorola don't always sell to induviduals. Plus the software cost a packet!
The best option is find someone who can do the programmign for you.

Hi scannsw,

Thanks for the info.

I am able to program it as I use quite alot of radio programming software.

I thought I might have been doing something wrong and needed to confirm that I didnt have the most up to dat software. As for having someone program it for me I think I might keep looking.

BTW, I love your website and I tune in just about every night for the online scanner and the freq listings are awesome. Keep up the excellent work.

Cheers,
Phil

In the DOS RSS, you would set that channel's 'RX voice/signal type' to either 'Astro' or 'Mixed mode', then you would go to 'More Options' -> 'Astro Options' and set the 'RX unmute rule' to 'Digital CSQ'. As I have never used the Astro CPS, I can't really say exactly what steps you take to do this, but it should be similar.

Hope that helps.

That depends if your radio is FPP ( Front Panel Programmable)
From memory i think, although could be wrong that the XTS300's are not.
However the 2500's and 5000's are, if they have that option

Hey all,

I am chasing a programming cable for my Moto XTS3000. If anybody knows of anyone in Australia that is selling them please let me know. I have never bought stuff from overseas and i am not sure if it is worth it. Any help would be great. Thanks
